“Persistence”
(sound01 + sound10)

For my “Found Sound” project I went with the, “what you love least about the world, what makes the world contentious and burdensome,” theme. The concept isn’t far off from the “sound10” sample, where a conversation concerning a lost item is taking place. The idea is that the conversation is going back and forth, where the only response to any idea, concept, or potential next move is singular, in this case, “back check.” My goal was to build a constant, persistent, point-of-view, in which there’s no room for compromise or discussion. The tension builds by the speaker being cut off by the response, and the intensity builds on behalf of the responder due to his repetitive nature concerning his singular solution.

I hate the concept of a single answer, especially when problem solving. That being said, there’s nothing more frustrating than trying to troubleshoot, and being cut off by the same solution without even finishing other potential ideas. It’s like the listener almost stops listening all together and jumps back to their original response based on familiarity. In some cases the responder even gets frustrated, and becomes louder, heated up, and fueled about their response due to their own consistency. This creates chaos and can bring an already troubling situation to a stressful event!
